Stavros Panagiotis Xanthopoylos is the Vice-Dean of FGV-IDE – Executive Educational Unit at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), Dean of FGV Online – Distance Education Unit of FGV, part of IDE, and Professor of the Production and Operations Management Department at FGV-EASP. Xanthopoylos has been involved with open and distance and corporate education for over 20 years, as an author, coordinator and lecturer. He is the Vice-President of the Brazilian Distance Education Association (ABED). He has been involved in research and implementation of OER´s practices in Brazil and Internationally. Currently, He is a member of the executive committee and advisor of a project in the ROER4D (Research for OER in the Developing South) a research project funded by IDRC.

His work in DE and OER´s has been recognized both national and internationally, under FGV Online and individually, with dozens of awards both in the academia and in the corporate world, outstanding his election as one of the ten Educational Personalities of Brazil in 2011, 2013 and 2014, earning him the right to be listed in the Role of Honor of Great Educators.
