FOR AUTHORS

The proposals are expected to make relevant contribution to the field and meet customary academic requirements.

Submissions should be written in English. Please make sure that your document is spell checked and proofread before submission.

Full text submissions are awaited – abstracts submissions are not required. However, summary after the heading is necessary for the book of abstracts.

Proposals should be submitted as MS Word .docx files, using the online submission form.

Please do not send scheduling requests of your presentations. Authors are expected to be available for the duration of the conference to present their contributions.

All expenses of attending the conference (travel, subsistence, accommodation, visas, conference fee) are the responsibility of the author(s) or presenter(s) of accepted contributions. EDEN does not offer funds to participate at the conference.

The call is closed.

Paper presentations

Presentation of research results, reviews of existing results including empirical or theoretical studies, policy reviews, comprehensive case studies and consolidated project achievements.

Paper proposals should not exceed six A4 pages, including figures and references, using the format guidelines.

Workshops

Comprehensive, substantial hands-on, practical application of open, distance, e-learning achievements within a workshop environment. Please consult the respective template to be sure that your planned session will meet the requirements. Be kindly informed that the Workshop category is always very competitive at the EDEN conferences. Submissions which have not been selected as workshops may be offered paper presentation slot.

For a workshop being published in the Conference Proceedings, the elaboration of the theme according to the Paper submission category is requested.

Take into account that the decision on the acceptance of a submission as workshop is based among others on the quality of the proposed panel of presenters. Online contribution is not encouraged. In case there would be a change in the composition of speakers (including online contribution instead of being present at the workshop in person), the decision on the workshop slot in the programme may be changed.

Workshop presenters are expected to register to the conference.

For workshops, please use this template to provide a thorough description of the content, the presentation structure and speakers.

Posters

Work-in-progress, initial research results, projects in initial stages of development, and case studies. Poster presentations will be – besides the exposition of the poster to be prepared itself – themed in moderated sessions. with short oral presentation and discussion whilst walking around the poster stands.

Poster submissions should not exceed four A4 pages, using the same format guidelines as for papers. Authors of posters accepted for presentation will be required to prepare a max. A0 (1189mm*841mm) size poster for display.

Demonstrations

Showcase of practical innovation, products, softwares, technologies and tools. Demos offer an opportunity to exhibit prototypes and to exchange ideas and collect feedback from expert users. They will be placed in special sessions but focusing on the demonstration of the product itself, not on oral introduction.

Demonstration submissions should not exceed two A4 pages, including a title, a short description, a summary of its novel characteristics, the features to be demonstrated, using the paper format guidelines. Web address to access the demo or screenshots are welcome.

Synergy sessions

This most popular and successful intensive and interactive session for,mat – an innovation of the EDEN Conferences for several years – aims to offer meetings of fellow project co-ordinators, partners and researchers to share and discuss EU projects and initiatives.

It is useful for partner search, dissemination, networking, discussion of ideas under development. Following few minutes of introduction of your idea, extensicve discussion takes place about clusters of short presentations.

Synergy submissions should be fitted into a specific template, not exceeding 1,5 A4 pages, including all data, information and illustrations.

Training sessions

Training sessions focusing on a particular topic, setting clear training objectives, competency areas and/or skills to be acquired by the participants– are invited.

For training sessions, please use this template to provide a thorough description of the theme, context, content, the presentation structure and speakers.

Evaluation of submissions is done by double peer-review. Decisions on acceptance will be based on originality, innovation and scholarly quality of contribution, on the proposal’s relevance to the conference themes, further the proven experience of the author(s). Contributions not matching the conference themes will meanwhile also be considered if they bring new knowledge and benefit to delegates.

The reviewers and the program committee will make the final decision as to the format which will be assigned to the accepted submissions (paper-poster-workshop).in order to ensure appropriate conference experience and structure.

Accepted contributions (except workshops, training and demonstrations) will be published online in the electronic Conference Proceedings with ISBN and their summary in the also digitally available Book of Abstracts.

Please note that all fully registered conference delegates (with payments received) will gain electronic access to the pdf version of the Proceedings, the CC licensed Book of Abstracts (including the Book of Projects) two weeks before the conference.

Submissions accepted for inclusion in the programme and publication will be edited for being published in the online Proceedings in .html format. Small typos and format inconsistencies may be corrected during the editing.

EDEN publications contribute to the Open Access movement by offering free access to its articles and permitting any users to read, download, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software.

The tradition of awarding the EDEN Best Research Paper will be continued. The selection process takes place in collaboration with the Ulrich Bernath Foundation for Research in Open and Distance Learning.

Award for the Young Scholars’ Best Paper may also be issued, subject of receiving submissions of remarkable quality in this category.
