Airina Volungeviciene

Airina Volungeviciene has been working among leading researchers, methodology specialists and policy makers in the area of distance learning development in Lithuania since 1998. Having graduated her first master degree at Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), she spent 11 years working at Kaunas University of Technology as distance learning methodology specialists and researcher. She coordinated numerous international projects in the area of distance education, worked on national study and strategy for distance learning network development in Lithuania, promoted methodological activities in Lithuanian Distance and eLearning (LieDM) network.

Having graduated her second master degree at University of Liege (Belgium) in Pedagogy of Higher Education, in 2004, she started working as an international tutor and scientific collaborator at University of Liege (Belgium) for distance learning mode.

Since 2005, she worked as an expert in Quality Assessment Centre for Higher Education to prepare self-assessment methodology for HE institutions to implement distance study programs and study program quality assessment at HE institutions.

After she defended her dissertation on „Designing Distance Learning/ Teaching Curriculum Quality Reflective Assurance“ in 2008, she continued her research activities at Vytautas Magnus University (since 2007), where she is the Director of Innovative Studies Institute and associate professor at the department of Education.

Since 2007, Airina runs distance study design and organization at university, coordinates international projects (dedicated for distance learning and teaching curriculum quality assurance, international virtual mobility, open educational resources (activity coordinator at partner institution, as well as expert for UNESCO study on OER in Baltic States).

Airina is a member of EFQUEL, ICDE, research project group member, study program evaluation expert in Lativa, and the president of Lithuanian Distance and eLearning (LieDM) association.
