The Host InstitutionFirst in Europe and in the French speaking world, the French national centre for distance learning (CNED), created in 1939, is a public institution of the Ministry of Youth, National Education and research, offering 3000 courses with custom made services for primary, secondary and tertiary education, professional and personal purposes. CNED is at the service of all projects within this field: creation of relevant training, elaboration of training curricula, transferring of proficiency... with CNED training experience and its know how in distance education engineering, CNED, especially through Eifad (Open and Distance Learning Institute), is meeting individuals, companies, schools and partner institutions abroad.
The modern campus of CNED located outside Poitiers, but easily accessible by public transport, is built together with Futuroscope with hotels, restaurants and all high quality facilities needed for a modern conference.

CNED-Eifad mission can be grouped around three themes:
Survey centre for education and technology – providing observations in both technological and pedagogical fields related to distance training. This allows CNED to have an updated view and to create more innovative products and services.
A centre for expertise and counselling - CNED-Eifad has acquired and developed a strong competence by offering expertise and counselling ability in the field of distance training engineering through its participation in a lot of national and international projects.
A relevant training proposal – CNED-Eifad organizes distance or blended training sessions for new CNED teachers, French or foreign researchers and more generally at any actor or future actor in the field of managing distance teaching programs.
