The Challenge of Defining a European Approach to E-Tutor Training
The number of teachers and trainers who work at least partly online in vocational and education training (VET) and other educational sectors is increasing dramatically and both new and serving teachers will increasingly find that they have to gain new competences to adapt to their new and changing roles for promoting effective learning online. Within this pre-conference event we will discuss the challenges faced when adopting a European approach to eTutor training, consider example courses from various European countries, and explore what a European approach could mean in contrast and complementary to existing national initiatives, promoting greater awareness and understanding of the inter-cultural barriers posed and suggesting strategies for combining a common core with national variation.
Social Software in Professional Learning Environments: A Joined Workshop of the Prolearn Network of Excellence and iCamp
This workshop is a joint initiative of the PROLEARN Network of Excellence and the research project iCamp. The aim is twofold. On the one hand it is planned to discuss with current practitioners some of their experiences as early adopters of social software in professional learning contexts, identify the benefits and problems encountered so far; on the other hand, to derive some of the key research challenges that are related to the use of social software in professional learning.
