RSS Service on EDEN websiteBe informed about the latest informations available: click and instantly receive news from EDEN! What is RSS?
RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'. RSS allows you to identify the content you like and have it delivered directly to you. RSS makes it easy for you to stay up-to-date, by showing you the very latest information in whatever subject or area that is important to you.
RSS is an XML-based format for distributing Web-based content such as news articles, newsletters, and original content. Using RSS, Web content providers can easily create and distribute feeds of information that include, for example, news links, headlines, and summaries.
EDEN now also offers this free service, intending to help you, with the least effort, to stay up-to-date on the latest news and activities happening around EDEN and in the field of open, distance and e-learning.
How can I use RSS?
In order to use RSS, you need to use an RSS News Reader to subscribe to and view the content. There are many different versions of RSS News Readers available for you to download for free over the Internet. All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want.
Once you have chosen a news reader, you then decide what content you want - click on the XML Feed button to subscribe to that individual feed in a number of different ways, including dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.
In addition, some browsers like the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari, have functionality that automatically picks up RSS feeds for you. If your Internet Explorer browser does not handle the RSS feed, please upgrade it to the latest version (at least 7.0). For more details on the web browsers, please check their websites.
How do I get an RSS News Reader?
There are many different varieties of RSS News Readers. Some like Bloglines, NewsGator, and MyYahoo! are browser based. Some RSS News Readers like Newsfire and NetNewsWire work only for Mac OS X. Others like Newz Crawler, FeedDemon, and Awasu work only on Windows. There are also RSS News Readers that are e-mail based like Thunderbird. Google has a nice category listing on RSS News Readers.
Please also keep in mind that simply clicking the "RSS" button in your web browser does not subscribe you to the service, we recommend you to use an RSS reader instead for proper subscription.
