About the chat

In this chat session we would like to explore with participants some of the most significant Myths relating to current MOOC research, whilst also casting an eye to the future to discuss how MOOC research may expand – The Magic! And finally to touch upon what methodological designs might help us as a community of researchers to achieve this!

Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl

Dr. Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl is currently an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow, with the National Institute of Digital Learning in Dublin City University, researching Massive Open Online Courses and implementing the University’s Strategic Initiative in this area. She is Head of the Ideas Lab, a teaching an learning innovation and research unit in the NIDL She is a Fulbright Scholar with the University of Notre Dame in the USA and Senior Lecturer in Information Technology in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in DCU.


#EDENChat is an online discussion event on Twitter initiated by Steering Committee of the EDEN Network of Academics and Professionals (NAP). It is mediated by members of the NAP community and runs for approximately 1 hour. Anyone can join in and contribute to the discussion which is presented in a Question and Answer format, and focuses on current issues in distance, open and e-learning. All sessions start at 18:00 CEST.
