4. Self-Evaluation of Quality in E-learning in Higher Education and Vocational Training
The SEVAQ+ wiki portal is now publicly available. SEVAQ is a self-evaluation tool of quality in e-learning in Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training. The tool offers the users both a core of questions and customised evaluation possibilities. Evaluation results are available in real time and in a variety of forms, from radar graphs giving an instant picture to raw data for importing into other applications. The enhanced self-evaluation tool and concept, extended to new stakeholder groups and localised in 3 additional languages (DE, IT and PL) with a focus on interculturality, will soon be available. At the EDEN Valencia Conference the project will deliver a workshop. A special stakeholder reception will also be organised in Valencia (details will be communicated soon)
5. Eliminating Language Barriers in Prisons Through E-learning
The ELBEP project was recently presented at the European Conference on Prison Education. The idea was to empower prison staff through their second language education via an e-Learning environment (developed in second language portals) to promote social cohesion as regards both rehabilitation and lives after release. The partners developed and ran e-courses, e-exercises audiovisual materials glossary and alphabet with manuals & virtual class environment. 6. News from European Interest Group on Creativity and Innovation (EICI)
The future EU2020 Strategy:
EU 2020 is aimed at enabling Europe to move toward 2020, which focuses on crisis recovery, a knowledge economy and a competitive, sustainable economy.
The EC has released a preliminary summary of the results of the public consultation on the Europe 2020 strategy. More than 1500 responses have been collected. The research sector has emphasised the need to build on Europe's research/knowledge infrastructure while increasing efforts to attract/retain top scientific talents. Regional and local authorities have expressed their interest in playing a greater role in the establishment of innovation policies.

7. Media & Learning Conference in Brussels 25-26 November 2010
The Media & Learning Brussels 2010 Conference is being organised in collaboration with the Flemish Ministry of Education and the European Commission Directorate-General for Education and Culture and will coincide with the Belgian Presidency of the European Union.
The conference will focus on three key themes; digital and media skills and competences, fostering the creation of media-based resources at all levels of education and training and use and re-use of existing media resources in education and training. USDLA - 2010 International Forum for Women in E-Learning (IFWE)

IFWE events allow attendees, at all stages of their careers, to discuss their ideas with experienced women leaders in distance learning from corporate, government, education, and consulting fields. The program includes keynote and panel discussions, poster and concurrent informational sessions, and networking/mentoring activities particularly relevant to women.
Universitat Oberta de Catalunya
The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) eLearn Center is offering Research Fellowship positions for outstanding researchers from around the world to spend time at the center in Barcelona to work on their research interests in e-learning and interact with the eLC’s researchers and doctoral students.
The 2010 call focuses specifically on:

Faculty and students’managing, making the most of and regulating their time in online educational environments, especially, via mobile devices.

Immersive environments and emerging technologies, tools and platforms in the framework of open social learning.

NETSOUNDS Project First European Seminar
The NETSOUNDS project invites to its First European Seminar with the title of "How can music change the world?". The project aims at promoting music education through new technologies and social networking based tools. The event will take place on the 31st of April, in Brussels, in the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union.

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is seeking submissions for its 2009-2010 Excellence in Distance Education Awards (EDEA). Submission deadline is 30 April 2010. The awards recognise excellence in four categories: the overall institutional level, the development of learning materials, a lifetime’s work as an educator, and student accomplishment.
