This is an FP7 Key Activities 3 ICT project which runs from December 2013 until November 2015. It focuses on the creation and use of digital video (or machinima) by learners and instructors to promote language learning in a cultural environment as simulated by a 3D virtual world or digital game environment. It is grounded in a task-based language teaching (TBLT) approach that promotes meaning and authenticity over form and encourages the development of a range of skills alongside language learning, including intercultural communication skills and digital literacy. We are interested in networks and synergies promoting digital video, immersive learning, open educational resources, digital literacy skills, and massive open online courses.
