Promoting the uptake of OER: results and exploitation of the POERUP project

The official funding period of POERUP has ended. Now all the project's key outputs and public deliverables are finalised and available to the public.

The project's overall aim was to develop policy recommendations to promote the uptake of OER (Open Educational Resources) in the educational sector, and to further the range of purposes for which institutions deploy OER: opening up education, widening access (internationally and in particular for developing countries), higher quality or lower cost of teaching – and combinations of these. These policy advice documents – for schools, for universities and for colleges and other organised education providers – were to be oriented to the European Union and a specified range of other countries.

The more than 500 selected OER initiatives are all documented in a large wiki database and are displayed on an interactive, progressive OER Map. We invite you to browse the collection and if you have initiatives to add, submit your contribution to the database that remains open.

2015 Open Discovery Space Contest

Following the success of its 2014 edition, the ODS Consortium has recently launched the 2015 Open Discovery Space Contests. The event consists of two parts: a National Contest, at the end of which all national winners will be awarded a seat at the 2015 ODS Summer School, and an International Contest, where two ultimate winners will be selected from the national contestants - one by an international jury of experts and one by popularity vote of fellow teachers.

The Open Discovery Space Contest is targeting teachers all around Europe. To participate, teachers will have to create and submit an innovative teaching scenario through the ODS Community Website before the 31st of December. Those teachers who are not yet familiar with ODS can find helpful resources on the project portal, such as why and how to use the Training Academies and the ODS Toolbox and guidelines how to share educational resources. With questions or enquiries please contact the EDEN Project Secretariat at project[at]
