Reflections about Collective and Independent Study by M. G. Moore

Imagine a confrontation between two perspectives and theoretical approaches on personalisation of learning as different as the ones of Michael G. Moore and of Cristóbal Cobo. It sounds quite exciting, don't you agree? But, just think that we have also invited Steve Wheeler to instigate and moderate the discussion and try to find a synthesis of both sides. Well, I'm sure that you'll be expecting a memorable debate. We are too! So please make sure to mark the date on your agendas: 17th June, at the closing session of EDEN16 in Budapest.

To pike your interest, in this guest post EDEN Senior Fellow, Michael G. Moore offers a thought-provoking reflection on the topic of the personalisation of learning.

How to leverage quality to drive rather than block innovation

While formal quality assurance regimes have increasingly focused on the student experience, they have not made student engagement the key driver for quality. Nor do such regimes look at whether the program is innovative, flexible, making great use of technology for learning analytics and assessment and is engaging students with potential applications of that learning. If we want to see quality as a lever for innovation rather than as a barrier to it, we need to start re-thinking our approach to quality. Read more ...

Lifelong and Lifewide Learning

How could the educational systems nowadays respond better to social and economic needs? Why is it so difficult to improve the positions of ‘atypical’ learning modes? Why has been the progress of so slow? Which are the major constraints of a breakthrough of modernisation in education?

It throws light from new angles on the dynamic relationships of core elements.
