#EDENChat: Reading on screen vs reading on paper

#EDENChat is a scheduled online discussion event on Twitter where anyone can join in and contribute to the discussions on current issues in distance, open and e-learning. In the most recent #EDENChat we discussed innovation in teaching. Read all the archived discussions here.

All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation, particularly researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators and all types of organisations that have participated in Horizon 2020.


What is new in EU Education and Training? – ET2020 Newsletter

Member States committed to “peer learning and the exchange of good practice, including the dissemination of outcomes” when they adopted the new Strategic Framework for European Cooperation in Education and Training (ET 2020) in 2009. This newsletter, which will appear three times a year, aims to give a succinct overview of these outcomes. Read the newsletter here.

MOOC on open badges starting from January - registration open

Open Badges are growing rapidly. There are deep implications of this new technology and movement in policy, employment, informal learning and higher education. The three free sessions of the MOOC created by the Open Badge Network project will guide you through the different aspects of employment, policy and education.

The MOOC is running between January - July 2017. Registration is now open!

WEBINARS about Home and Hospital Education

In recent months the project Learning at Home and in the Hospital - LeHo organised several webinars to learn about innovative tools and relevant resources for home and hospital education practitioners, stakeholders and interested parties. The recorded webinars are available here.

Horizon 2020: EUA members call for more competitiveness and efficiency

Check out the latest EUA Special Edition Newsletter dedicated to the results of the member consultation on Horizon 2020 connected to that of the European Comission (see above). The findings represent the voices of more than 150 universities from 28 countries across Europe and contain further reflections from EUA’s ongoing work on the Ninth Framework Programme, the European Innovation Council and the Public Funding Observatory.

The Open Policy Network published its Global Open Policy Report 2016 first of its kind, providing a systematic overview of open policy development based on 38 countries, across four sectors: education, science, data and heritage.


Free Access to Open Education Book is Now Available

The book, Open Education: International Perspectives in Higher Education, is now available free via the links on the publisher's website. This insightful collection of essays explores the ways in which open education can democratise access to education for all. It is a rich resource that offers both research and case studies to relate the application of open technologies and approaches in education settings around the world.
