EDEN NAP Area - Network for Academics and ProfessionalsThe EDEN NAP Area is continuously under development in line with members' feedback. The new wave of improvements effected the search function that now makes searching more sophisticated and more comfortable: You can search for other NAP member by hoovering the cursor over the 'My Profile' menu on the top left corner of your screen. By selecting 'Members' menu from the drop-down list appearing, you will find two types of search options. A simple version of 'Search' option is where you can search NAP members by name institution and country. To use advanced search, click on 'Advanced Search'. Now you can refine your search by the criteria 'Membership type'. With the help of 'Advanced Search', you can easily find your institutional contact person or other NAP Members from your institution as well as NAP members from other institutions. The more complex profile you have, the more connections you make! |

Validating school and non-school experienceOn 5th September 2012 the European Commission presented a draft recommendation to the Council that aims to acknowledge non-formal and informal apprenticeships. Indeed a growing number of Europeans have experience like this. The acknowledgement of this training would stimulate employment and bring a share of the European population out of its social exclusion. This document suggests that Member States introduce by 2015 the mechanisms to acknowledge these acquis by concentrating on their identification, their documentation, their assessment and their certification. The Member States will also have to ensure the distribution of information about the possibility to validate acquis and offer citizens the opportunity to make an assessment when necessary...Read more |

MOVE-ON Application - Try Mobile Training!You are invited to test the MOVE-ON mobile learning application by participaing in one of the 3 available courses (Project Magament, Financial Management and Negotiations) in any of the 5 (BG, IT, HU, EN, EL) languages. Pilot testers are expected from all over Europe. Should you be interested in participaing in the pilot tesing, contact us at: turzo@eden-online.org. The courses will be ready for download on our website in October 2012. |

Highlights from EDEN Members and Partners
2nd ODS Winter School in LithuaniaThe Winter School will take place next January/February in Vilnius, Lithuania (28/01/2013-01/02/2013) and the host institution will be Metis Baltic. The title of the event is "Development of learning design skills for enhancing students' key competencies". The course generally aims to cover the topics of learning design and the use of educational resources. It has been validated by the Lithuanian National Agency and it is published in the Comenius - Grundtvig Training Database with the reference number "LT-2013-029-001". The initial description of the event can be found here. The deadline for applications is September 17th, 2012. |

EUCEN: Testing of the new on-line courses of the IMPLEMENT projectEUCEN invites professionals in the area of University Lifelong Learning to take part in the free testing of online courses developed by the IMPLEMENT project that will take place between 17 to 28 September. A moderated on-line workshop in the area of “Exploring Diversity in University Lifelong Learning” is offered on Wednesday, 19 September from 15:00 CET onwards. Read full press release... |

From the European Civil Society Platform on Lifelong Learning - EUCIS-LLL Newsletter
The year 2013 has officially been dubbed the European Year of Citizens, after intensive negotiations between the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament. The aim is to raise awareness and knowledge of the rights and responsibilities attached to Union Citizenship. EUCIS-LLL, as a member of the European Year of Citizens 2013 Alliance, has been actively advocating broadening the scope of year’s topic, tackling not only individual rights but the Europeans’ sense of belonging to a common European Union. EUCIS-LLL vision on what European Citizenship includes important topics such as education to (European) citizenship or civil dialogue and participatory democracy that are so crucial to re-connect citizens to the EU project especially one year before the European elections.
The next European Education and Training Forum will take place on 18-19 October in Brussels. The aim of the Forum, entitled “Investing in skills for growth and jobs”, is to mobilise stakeholders and policy makers to modernise education and training systems through national and EU policies and instruments in order to enhance growth and jobs. This year's Forum will have a double focus on 1) Education and training aspects of Europe 2020 and 2) the future Erasmus for All programme.
