Whenever you post new content (e.g. uploading a picture, file or writing a blog post), or create a new Group or Page, you will be able to set the privacy of this content yourself. You may opt for setting your entire Profile 'public', allowing non EDEN Members to see your content on the web. All group members will be notified about changes in the group via an email. All group features are available only after logging in to the EDEN NAP Members' Area.
By clicking My profile -> Blogs on the top navigation bar, you can start your own blog. The blog posts will appear on the right hand main column, while you can add new blog posts on the left hand side vertical navigation column. The editing tool works with icons. If you wish to add a picture to your blog post, you need to upload the file first with the 'Files' button and then add the link. Don't forget to set the Access (privacy setting) before posting. If you wish to interrupt an editing process, we recommend you to use the 'Private' access setting instead of saving as 'Draft'. Whenever you finish your post, you can change the setting to 'Public'.
IMPORTANT: To save your post, you have to click 'Publish' on the left hand side navigation column. Not clicking the Publish button before navigating somewhere else will result in the loss of your unsaved content.
You may edit your previous blog posts any time by clicking the 'Edit' button on the bottom of your posts.
You can also see entries written by your colleagues (that you are Friends with) as well as find other entries that people have written on similar topics. You can also see entries written by your friends (that you have access to).
Select 'Group files' on the left menu bar. By clicking on it, you will land in the Group's file repository. Select 'Upload a file' on the left menu bar and browse your computer by clicking on the button under 'File'. Don't forget to give a 'Title' to the file, otherwise the file will not be saved inthe repository. You may add a description and add tags to make it easily searchable. IMPORTANT: at the 'Access' option choose Logged in users, Public or the relevant Group members to make it accessable.
You may collect interesting resources from the web by saving the webaddress in your Bookmarks (My profile ->Bookmarks). You can select Friends to share these bookmarks with. On the left-hand vertical navigation column, you may choose 'Add bookmark' to enter the webaddress and description of new bookmarks; click 'Bookmarks inbox' to see bookmarks sent by others to you, click 'Friends' bookmarks' to browse your NAP Friends' bookmarks or 'All site bookmarks' to see all non-private bookmarks of NAP members.
You have the option to upload files and share them with other members. This function is available on the My Profile -> Files menu. Usually this function is helpful when you refer to a document in a Blog post or on a Page you create. This allows you to store and also share files with fellow EDEN Members at one place. Make sure that after uploading the file, the Privacy setting allows others to see this file. In case you use pictures in your Blog post, this picture needs to be uploaded as a separate file and its link has to be used when inserting it as a picture to the blog post or in the Page. The file repository allows users to upload any kind of file. As with everything in this system, you can filter uploaded files by tag and restrict access so that they're only visible by the people you want them to be. Each file may also have comments attached to it.
This tool allows you to save and store hierarchically organised pages of text, and restrict both reading and writing permissions to them. This means that you can collaboratively create a set of documents with a loose collection of people, participate in a writing process with a formal group, or simply use the functionality to write a document that only you can see, and only choose to share it once it's done.
The easy navigation menu (left column) allows you to see the whole document structure from any page. You can create as many of these structures as you like; each individual page has its own access controls, so you can reveal parts of the structure while keeping others hidden. You can add comments on a page, or search for pages by tags.
At the right end of the top horizontal navigation bar you find a Search box. Search is simple: just type your key words into the search box, hit Enter or click on the Go button, and elgg will search the whole NAP Members Area site for content that are relevant to your query. It searches within users, groups, blogs, pages, etc.
