When it comes to a project’s end of funding, the issue of sustainability of the final product is one of the hottest topics. In this synergy session, the concrete example was a Portuguese language e-course for companies,EMPORT, that has the uniqueness in including the cultural elements, i.e. the awareness of differences among different Portuguese speaking countries (culture and accents).

Some of the advices that were mentioned from the colleauges, I hope you can use it as an inspiratioin:

-          specify goals of the product as much as possible, as well the product to be used for commercialization (if it is a plan)

o   e.g.: platform alone or the course-development service itself

-          specify target gorup/potential clients

-          choose between founding a social/non-profit and for profit enterprise

-          engaging students e.g.: Master student thesis topic

-          governmental funding

-          crowd sourcing

-          open platform, open source technology

-          piloting as much and organised as possible and use the results for improvement, for engaging potential clients, etc.

-          using big tourist events e.g.:  creating a unit for the carneval for tourists (through tourist offices) for a teaser

-          IP clarification before commercialization is crucial

o    e.g: do licensing: 1 partner is applying for using the license and paying license fee to the other Consortium partners

-          you can find help on the Internet, eg.:  Business Model Canvas http://www.businessmodelgeneration.com/canvas  (a strategic management and entrepreneurial tool)

-          build up the business model during the funding lasts
