Workshop and Session Highlights

Distance Education in Brazil: Context, trends and potential

Currently, Brazil has approximately 6 million of students enrolled in distance learning courses. Mature and growing, this professional market looks for constant improvement, and internationalization has been one of the most fruitful paths. The workshop aims a brief presentation of the main efforts in this area, and a discussion about the potential and the trends is a good way to reassure reciprocal innovations in the sector. It will include the history and trends of the Internet domain in Brazil, focusing on the education research sector and the potentials and barriers for the development of distance learning in the country, technology transfer in the education sector, an overview of the UAB and CEDERJ in Brazil, the potential of multinational higher-education projects as example of academic internationalization and cooperation. Videos about public policies in the area of distance education in Brazil will be presented.

What Makes Change Happen in Education Institutions? External Pressure, Strategic Leadership and Micro-innovation Stimulus in the Experience Collected by VISIR

In the period 2012-2014, the VISIR project has produced a long-term vision on the contribution of ICT for transforming education and training, and has validated this vision through three broad stakeholders consultations, collecting more than 7.000 opinions. The project has mapped 120 micro-innovation practices. The findings have been discussed through Exchange Seminars and mainstreaming events.

This work resulted in a set of recommendations targeted to policy makers, leaders in education institutions and practitioners. The Panel will gather experts and leaders in the field of e-learning to discuss and improve the recommendations and advise how to foster change in European education systems.

MAJMIN International Workshop: Major Competences to Manage Minor Offenders – VET research and innovation for professionals working with minor offenders

This project tackles a highly sensitive issue: tackling competence development of the professionals who deal with juvenile offenders. Within this workshop MAJMIN partners will present the main educational outcomes of the project, including the Research Report, an EQF based curriculum and technology-enhanced learning supported training course for VET training of professionals

The Medium is the Massage - Solving Challenges in the Use of Social Media

Special Reflexology Service during the Conference, providing unique combination of an intensive one-to-one consultancy in the use of social media with a relaxing foot reflexology massage. The objective is to create a trustful and relaxed atmosphere to solve the key issues in the use of social media in education and training.

Synergy Programmes for sharing and collaborating

The Synergy Strand (Projects presenting within the Synergy Strand) will facilitate the sharing of project outputs and research findings, offer the participants platform to develop new ideas and plans, to create new partnerships by engaging the conference audience in highly interactive working group activities during parallel sessions.
