Biography

Rafael Pastor is currently Dean of the Computer Science Faculty of the Spanish University for Distance Education. He has more than 20 years of experience in teaching. He has held different academic positions until he got the role of associate professor that he occupies. Within the management activities associated with teaching at UNED, he has held the position of Director of Technological Innovation of UNED (in charge of the development of the aLF learning platform and technological innovation processes) for five years (2004-2009) and also as Director of the Center for Innovation and Technological Development of UNED in the period 2009-2011, as responsible for the management of the virtual campus of UNED and the development of the aLF learning platform. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the .LRN platform, as UNED’s responsible for the development of this educational technology worldwide. Throughout his scientific career as a researcher, he has participated in more than 17 R&D projects funded in public calls (regional, national and international), some of them with particular relevance with multinational companies and administrations. Also, he has participated as a member of several international scientific societies, such as IEEE (Education Society). More specifically, he participated in the board of the Spanish chapter of the IEEE Education Society, being the coordinator of the working group on virtual/remote laboratories, and he is a Senior Member of the IEEE itself
