EDEN 2020 Annual Virtual Conference: Detailed programme available!

Dear EDEN Members, Partners, Friends,

The EDEN 2020 Annual Virtual Conference drawing close, we look forward to this unprecedented (as regards to the completely virtual platform) EDEN event on 22-24 June.

The conference will be hosted by the Politehnica University, Timisoara, Romania’s European Capital of Culture in 2021. Throughout the three conference days, nearly 50 selected scholarly papers will be presented. In addition to the 10 submitted workshops, EDEN will present conceptual sessions about the Covid-19 webinars’ experience, on leadership, strengths and opportunities of the Association. The Open University UK will feature with their 50th Anniversary session. The PhD Symposium strand is integrated in the conference programme with progress report of young scholars and discussions by senior academics. The Microcredentials in Higher Education strand on Tuesday will be introduced by Anthony F. Camilleri’s keynote presentation: ‘Micro-Credentials in the Future European Policy Landscape’. Timisoara University will provide you with some exciting social events as well (ie. a Timisoara Live Virtual Tour).

Keynote speakers

Daniella Rus
Daniela Rus is the Andrew (1956) and Erna Viterbi Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; Director of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL); and Deputy Dean of Research for Schwarzman College of Computing at MIT. Rus’ research interests are in robotics, artificial intelligence, and data science.

 

Georgi Dimitrov
Deputy Head of Unit “Innovation and EIT” and Project Team leader of the “Digital Education Action Plan update” at the European Commission

Jesus G. Boticario
Full Professor (CS. and Artificial Intelligence) at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), who will give his presentation on the topic “Massive Deployment of Artificial Intelligence at Higher Education Institutions”.

 

Prof. Demetrios Sampson
Professor, Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus.
Demetrios Sampson is engaged in teaching and research in the field of Learning Technologies and Digital Learning since 1996. He is the co-author of 350 articles in scientific books, journals, and conferences, and the editor of 15 books, 35 special issues in academic journals and 40 international conference proceedings, with more than 6000 citations

Martin Dougiamas
CEO, Moodle, Australia.
Martin Dougiamas is the founder and CEO of the open-source Moodle software project launched in 1999. He continues to guide and grow the enterprise with the support of 80 employees globally and two major offices in Perth, Australia and Barcelona, Spain. 

Prof. Denise Whitelock
Interim Director for the Institute of Educational Technology at The Open University..
Professor Denise Whitelock is the interim Director for the Institute of Educational Technology at The Open University.  She is a Professor of Technology Enhanced Learning and has over twenty-five years’ experience in Artificial Intelligence for designing, researching and evaluating online and computer-based learning in Higher Education.  


As you can see upon registration, conference fees are kept reasonably low and young scholars can apply for waived fees.
The double-blind peer reviewed papers will be published in the electronic Conference Proceedings with ISSN, discovered and linked by Google and Google Scholar, Alma (ProQuest), EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS), with further indexing via the Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL).
