Description:The rapidly growing number of open educational materials and repositories makes the issue of how to find the most relevant and best quality resources to be integrated in teaching and learning offers. In addition, overlapping and competing standards, size of the search pool, quality of metadata represents issues that different initiatives in the field of Open Education have tried to solve. Thus, there is an urgency for effective search, discovery, and quality assessment tools. During the webinar, the relation between quality and dimensions in Open Education, with a focus on Open Educational Resources will be described and discussed.

  • Antonella Poce, University Roma TRE, EDEN NAP SC Chair

Antonella Poce is an Associate Professor in Experimental Pedagogy at the University Roma Tre – Department of Education, where she teaches Experimental Pedagogy and Research Methodology in Education. After her PhD in “Innovation and evaluation of educational systems”, she obtained a post-doc scholarship to carry out research work on the evaluation of e-learning models in university teaching and learning. Her research concerns innovative teaching practices in higher education at national and international level. 

  • Ulf-Daniel Ehlers, Baden-Wurttemberg Cooperative State University, EDEN Executive Committee Member

Ulf-Daniel Ehlers is a learning innovation expert and has been appointed Professor for Educational Management and Lifelong Learning at the Baden-Wurttemberg Cooperative State University in Karlsruhe in 2011. From 2011-2017 he held the position of Vice-president at the same university and has been responsible for Quality and Academic Affairs. He held positions as Associate Professor of University Duisburg-Essen (Germany), Professor for Technology Enhanced Learning of University Augsburg (Germany) and Associate Professor of the Graduate School for Management and Technology of the University of Maryland University College (USA).

  • Ebba Ossiannilsson, SADE,  EDEN Executive Committee Member

Ebba Ossiannilsson is an independent researcher, expert, quality assessor and influencer in the fields of open online flexible, distance learning, including e-learning TEL, OER and MOOCs. Her focus is on quality, innovation, leadership, and personal, learning. She is in EDEN EC, Chair the EDEN SIG for TEL and quality enhancement, EDEN Fellow, and EDEN Council of Fellows. She is in the ICDE EC, and Chair the ICDE Advocacy Committee, for the worldwide advocacy of OER. Ossiannilsson is a quality expert and reviewer for ICDE, and the EADTU, and an evaluator and expert for the European Commission. She works with the Swedish Institute of Standards and ISO. She is a member of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition Sweden. Ossiannilsson is VP of the Swedish Association for Distance Education. Ossiannilsson hold her PhD from Oulu University, Finland, with a dissertation on benchmarking e-learning in higher education. She led the ICDE’s quality standard study in 2014-2015. She is in the editorial board of several scientific journals.

  • Dr. Don Olcott, Jr., Global Consultant, EDEN NAP SC member, EDEN Council of Fellows Vice-Chair

Don Olcott, Jr., FRSA, is a professor and global consultant specializing in educational leadership and open and distance education. He is also an adjunct full Professor of Educational Leadership with the University of Maryland University College (USA) and an adjunct instructor with Oldenburg University, Germany. From 2014-2017, he served as Professor and Co-Director of the uImagine Digital Innovation Laboratory and as Head of Virtual Campus at Charles Sturt University in Australia. Don was made an EDEN Senior Fellow and Honorary Professor at the University of South Africa (Unisa) in June 2018. Don was elected Vice Chair of the EDEN Council of Fellows in February 2019. Dr. Olcott is former Chief Executive of The Observatory on Borderless Higher Education (OBHE) in the UK (2007-2011), former Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA). Dr. Olcott was the 2013 recipient of the International Council of Distance Education (ICDE) Individual Prize of Excellence for his leadership and contributions to global open and distance education. Don formerly served on the external Strategy Group of the Open University and served on the UK Online Learning Task Force (2009-2011); and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA). . He was a 2016 Stanley Draczek Outstanding Teaching Award recipient from the University of Maryland University College for excellence in online teaching and learning. He continues to serve on many editorial boards and publish in areas related to open and distance learning and leadership.

  • Francesca Amenduni, Ph.D. Student, University of Roma Tre, EDEN NAP member

Francesca Amenduni is a PhD Student in Culture, Education and Communication at the University of Roma TRE in collaboration with the University of Foggia. Her expertise is in the e-learning field both as a practitioner and researcher. She has worked as an e-learning tutor and instructional designer since 2015. She carried research related to blended learning and her current PhD project regards semi-automated assessment of Critical Thinking short essays and open-ended answers
