With the rise of technology, combined with the explosive growth of social media over the last decade, the concept of personalized mobile learning through bite-sized learning snippets has come to the fore. In addition, in the context of major global challenges such as globalization, digitalization and demographic change, and learning for all, there is an urgent need for a variety of learning opportunities and pathways for lifelong and life-wide learning. The concept of microlearning has been around since about 2000, but what is it and how to make learning in bite-sized form successful, attractive and effective, as it to be just right for me and learning in education, training, achievement and talent development contexts. Micro-learning offers opportunities to incorporate, integrate and personalize cost-effective and meaningful learning and training solutions for each individual in terms of personal, environmental and organizational performance improvement. During this webinar with invited experts in this field there will be opportunities to learn more about the growing field of micro-learning / bite-sized learning snippets and quality for life-ong learning.

Dr. Badrul H. Khan is a world-renowned speaker, author, educator and consultant in the field of e-learning and educational technology. Professor Khan has the credit of first coining the phrase Web based instruction and popularizing the concept through his 1997 best-selling Web-Based Instructionbook which paved the way for the new field of e-learning. The book has been adopted by more than 350 colleges and universities worldwide. Recognized as the founder of modern e‑learning by 2014 NATO e‑Learning Forum. Known as the founder of modern e-learning, Dr. Khan has been honored with many awards and worldwide acclamation throughout his career. In recognition of his unique contribution to the field of e-learning coupled with his services to worldwide e-learning communities, Egyptian E-Learning University Council on August 13, 2012 appointed Dr. Badrul Khan as an honorary distinguished professor of e-learning. Professor Khan is a United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) 2015 Hall of Fame Inductee. He is recognized as one of the Leaders in Open and Distance Education in North America. He is Founder of GyanBahanthe Knowledge Carrier – a practical application of competency-based lifelong e-learning. He is considered as one of the most influential scholars in e‑learning field for his creation of “A Framework for E‑learning” (popularly known as “Khan’s E-learning Framework”) which is used by researchers and practitioners worldwide as one the most valid framework models to research, design, evaluate and implement online and blended‑learning. He is the host of KDW TV show on FOX 5 PLUS WDCA in the USA by Global Television Network.

He has 37 years of teaching experience in public and higher education and has specialized in online education for the past 20+ years. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on best practices in e-learning. His co-edited The MOOC Case Book: Case Studies in MOOC Design, Development and Implementation, won 2nd place in the AECT Division of Distance Learning Book Award. He has earned several other awards in distance learning best practices, including a 2019 Best Practice Award from the Association of Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) – Division of Organizational Training and Performance for Integrating Competency-Based Micro-Credentials into Stackable Graduate Degrees. In 2017 and 2019 respectively, his work in online education was recognized for an Effective Practice Award by the Online Learning Consortium for Integrating Competency-Based Micro-Credentials into Stackable Graduate Degrees, and for, Digital Badges: Motivating Learners to Excel While Adding Professional Value to their College Degrees. He is currently collaborating with Dr. Badrul H. Khan and Dr. Maria Elena Corbeil on a third edited book titled, Microlearning in the Digital Age: The Design and Delivery of Learning in Snippets, which is scheduled for release in early 2021.

She currently teaches fully web-based undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses in Educational Technology. She also coordinates two fully online undergraduate educational technology minors. She focuses her expertise in online education on promoting teaching excellence and program quality through the mentoring and training of fully online full-time and part-time faculty. She has published numerous papers and book chapters on e-learning and innovations in educational technology. In 2011, she was awarded the Ben Bauman Teaching Excellence Award by the International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS). Her co-edited book, The MOOC Case Book: Case Studies in MOOC Design, Development and Implementation, was awarded 2nd place in the AECT Division of Distance Learning Book Award. Her most recent co-edited book, Responsible Analytics and Data Mining in Education: Global Perspectives on Quality, Support, and Decision Making won two Outstanding Book Awards by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). She is currently collaborating with Dr. Badrul H. Khan and Dr. Joseph Rene Corbeil on a third edited book titled, Microlearning in the Digital Age: The Design and Delivery of Learning in Snippets, which is scheduled for release in early 2021.

Professor Dr. Ebba Ossiannilsson is an independent researcher, expert, consultant, quality assessor and influencer in the fields of open online flexible and distance learning. She is a member of the EDEN EC, EDEN NAP, EDEN Council of Fellows, and Chair of the EDEN SIG for Technology-Based Learning and Quality Enhancement. Ossiannilsson is in the ICDE EC, and an ambassador for the worldwide advocacy of OERs, she is the Chair of the ICDE Advocacy Committee. She is a member of the ICDE Global Quality Network and of the Advisory Board for the Strategic Plan 2020-2022 ICDE. Ossiannilsson is a quality expert for ICDE, and the EADTU. Ossiannilsson is Vice-President of the Swedish Association for Distance Learning (SADE), and member of the Job and Skills Coalition Sweden, as well as working with the Standard Institute Sweden.
