EDEN Newsflash - June-July, 2005

1. The EDEN 2005 Annual Conference in Helsinki, with the over 500 delegates, its 140 presentations and 12 workshops, has been one of the greatest successes in the history of EDEN. The conference keynote speakers included high-ranking officials of the European Commission, CEDEFOP and OECD, as well as chief research professionals and leading academic and corporate sector experts, and representatives from international organisations. Most of their PowerPoint presentations can now be read online at www.eden-online.org/eden.php?menuId=245. Copies of the Conference Proceedings book can also be ordered from the "Publications and Information Services" page of the EDEN web site at www.eden-online.org/eden.php?menuId=79?contentId=72.

2. At the EDEN Annual General Meeting held in Helsinki, 23 June 2005, EDEN members unanimously elected Martine Vidal from CNED (France) and re-elected, for his second 3-year term, Nikitas Kastis from Lambrakis Foundation (Greece) to serve as Executive Committee members. We congratulate to both Martine and Nikitas and wish them much success in their positions!

3. Is e-Learning contributing to employability? This survey (the second of 6 thematic surveys to be carried out during 2005 and 2006) is being conducted as part of the HELIOS project, in collaboration with the European Commission. HELIOS aims to establish and consolidate a sustainable observation platform able to dynamically monitor the progress of e-Learning in Europe vis-a-vis policy objectives and to forecast future scenarios of e-Learning evolution. By completing this short survey at FreeOnlineSurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?id=97723 you will be making a significant contribution to the understanding and measurement of the current situation of this particular area of e-Learning in Europe. All information provided by any individual/organisation will be confidential and no-one other than those responsible for carrying out the survey will have access to the information provided by individual respondents.

4. The ICL2005 Conference will be held from September 28-30, 2005 in Villach, Austria. This interdisciplinary conference aims to focus on the exchange of relevant trends and research results as well as the presentation of practical experiences gained while developing and testing elements of interactive computer aided learning. For further information, please check www.icl-conference.org.

The EDEN Secretariat would like to wish you a relaxing summer holiday. Would you have any inquiries during the summer, the staff of the Secretariat will be around the office continuously.
