As the summer holidays are just finishing, some flexibility with receiving your paper may be possible. Please give a sign by sending a message to the Conference Secretariat that you intend to submit! For reading the paper submission guidelines, please visit the Call for Papers on the web

The online registration is now open. To read the registration procedure and conditions as well as registration fees arranged, please, visit the Registration menu on the web and use the Online Registration Form to join the event.

Special arrangements for Young Scholars, up to the age of 35, as well as Combined participation and membership fee are available.

2. Pre-Announcement - EDEN Annual Conference , 2011

In the 20th Anniversary Year of EDEN, the next Annual Conference will take place in Dublin, at the University College of Dublin. The event is organised in co-operaton with IADT - Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design.



Please, mark the dates 19-22 June, 2011 in your diary, not to miss this important conference.

5. News from the Secretariat

We are delighted to announce that the first "EDEN Secretariat Baby", Zoe was born on 9 August. The mother is Eva Szalma, EDEN Project Officer.


Barbara Lazar has joined the Secretariat as Conference Officer, with fixed term contract. A slight internal restructuring of tasks is ensuring the continuous good operation of the Secretariat.

With the start of the new academic year, members who have not yet entered the new NAP members' area, are kindly invited to visit, enrich with latest pieces of information and share with colleagues relevant experiences or launch groups, elaborate plans for the future.

7. Fifth Seminar on Repositories of Learning Resources

The EdReNe - Educational Repositories Network organises its 5th seminar on 6 - 7 October 2010, Copenhagen, Denmark. The seminar will present and discuss recommendations and experiences on repository strategies, the engagement of users and producers, relevant standards to ensure interoperability, and handling of intellectual property rights.

8. News from EDEN Member Organisations and Partners

Universitat Oberta de Catalunya - UOC

EDEN member, UNESCO Chair in e-Learning of UOC - organizes the VII International Seminar on "Mobile Technologies for Learning and Development" to be held October 6-7, 2010 in Barcelona (Spain). The seminar will explore the potential of mobile technologies as a learning medium which every day lures more and more educators, software and hardware developers, policymakers and telecom providers.

Scienter case studies report on "Pedagogical Innovation in New Learning Communities: An In-depth Study of Twelve Online Learning Communities" was published by IPTS and is available by clicking here

International Training Centre of ILO

The Centre, Member of EDEN, is launching a three-day (13-15 October) workshop on learning methodology. It will be innovative, participatory and intercultural. The event is for trainers, facilitators and subject-matter experts who want to ensure that their activities generate learning. If interested, please, contact Ms. Monica Lisa

USDLA - United States Distance Learning Association

Announces the 2010 International Forum for Women in E-Learning, to take place 1-3 December, 2010 Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia

Education 2011-2021: Summit on Global Challenges and Perspectives of Blended and Distance Learning, 15-18 February, 2011. The event in Sydney will focus on three themes i) Research and Development, ii) Community and Open Learning and iii) Learning and Teaching. Though the full paper submission deadline is over, posters, workshops, research notes and plenary panel proposals are welcome by the 25 September 2010.

EUCEN - The European Association for University Lifelong Learning

"From Rhetoric to Reality" - 40th EUCEN Conference, 18-20 November 2010, Lille. The main objective is to contribute more concretely to the implementation of LLL strategies in Higher Education Institutions on basis of common experience, initiatives and actions and the results of projects.

EURASHE - the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education invites you to participate in their 20th Annual Conference, in Tallinn (Estonia), 14-15 October 2010. With partners in EU project called EquNet, a special conference track will be organised on "The Social dimension aspect in the higher education reform process: Research findings about Fair Access to Higher Education". It will focus on Fair Access to Higher Education by disseminating the recent findings on barriers in higher education due to educational background, socio-economic conditions and structural problems.
