Community Update
EDEN - EADTU Presidents' Meeting in LisbonOn 15-16 January, EDEN President Antonio Teixeira hosted a meeting in Lisbon at the Universidade Aberta with EADTU President and Dutch Open University Rector Anja Oskamp. The co-operation of the two leading European associations in open, distance and e-learning has entered a new phase since last year and the Presidents' meetings became regular. The consultations about the European policies and actual developments will result activities with benefits for the membership of both EDEN and EADTU in 2015.

The environment helps by automatic creation of active reference links, delivery of abstracts to abstracting databases, easy integration with library systems and user authentication. With the marketing services included, EURODL will have increased visibility, ensure growing citation, impact factor and reference linking, thus reach more readers and potential authors, enhancing further the global availability of the Journal. From UOC: What leads students to continue on e-learning?A research conducted at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya examines students' experiences online, and explains what and how drives e-learning continuance. ‘What leads students to continue on e-learning?’ This is an intriguing question for scholars and higher education institutions that aim to prevent the discontinuation of e-learning and raise opportunities for student retention. An investigation by Universitat Oberta de Catalunya’s professors gives some answers by revealing the complex interplay of perceptual and experiential factors that leads to online student’s retention. Launching EDUWORKS for talented early-stage researchersThe objective of EDUWORKS is to train talented early-stage researchers in the socio-economic and psychological dynamics of the labour supply and demand matching processes at aggregated and disaggregated levels. The initiative brings together researchers from several academic disciplines, namely: Labour Economics, Sociology of Occupations, HRM, Lifelong Learning.
