EDEN Open Classroom Conference
20-22 October 2017, Athens, Greece

Open Schools for Open Societies 2017


Registration is free

The aim of the conference is to introduce and discuss the notion of the “Open School”. A school that effectively introduces innovations in education is an engaging environment not only for the students and teachers. It re-designs learning to accommodate and include difference and brings together families, community groups, local businesses, experts, universities, and others into an innovation ecosystem.

Call for submissions:
Proposals are invited for Papers and Poster presentations on the selected themes. Abstracts and inquiries about the conference content should be sent by e-mail no later than 15 September 2017.

Pre-conference event:
On Friday 20 October 2017, the pre-conference event "How to promote the development of self-regulated learning for primary school children?" will take place. The objectives of this pre-conferece event are:

  • To familiarise teachers with Self Regulated Learning.
  • Provide hands-on experience with Self Regulated Learning teaching application.
  • To develop practical recommendations for integrating teaching of SRL in their classroom activities.

Conference Deadlines:

  • Submission of Abstracts: 15 September 2017
  • Notification of Authors: 22 September 2017
  • Submission of full Papers & Posters (for publication in the proceedings): 10 October 2017
  • Conference Dates: 20-22 October 2017

The conference aims to discuss the challenges of open professional collaboration in higher, adult, school, vocational education and company training and seeks to develop synergy among national, regional, European and global initiatives, professional associations, education and business partnerships.

EDEN Network of Academics and Professionals (NAP)– Deputy-Chair elected and a glimpse into Autumn activities

EDEN NAP Steering Committee recently elected Chair, Professor Antonella Poce, her newly elected Deputy-Chair, Alfredo Soeiro (University of Porto) and the NAP SC team is preparing its activities for the autumn 2017.

Plans include the continuation of the lively and successful #edenchat series on Twitter and the organization of webinars in cooperation with the MOONLITE project on MOOCs for social inclusion and employability on a monthly basis.

Dates and topics will be announced under virtual events on our website, where you can follow the history of past activities and view NAP SC webinars organized earlier this year.

The survey launched by the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe is part of a larger study on the impact of EPALE in its first two years of operation and its potential future impact on behalf of the European Commission. The deadline for the survey is 8 August 2017.

SAVE THE DATE! tMAIL final seminar in Athens, 20 October 2017

The tMAIL - Teacher Mobile Application for Innovative Learning project is inviting you to its final conference that will be held in Athens on 20 October 2017, as a pre-event of the 2017 EDEN Open Classroom Conference hosted by the Ellinogermaniki Agogi. This free of charge event will give participating teachers a chance to familiarise themselves with Self Regulated Learning (SRL), have hands-on experience with an SRL teaching application and will receive practical recommendations for integrating teaching of SRL in their classroom activities.

Call for European consortium partners: Releasing Scientific Knowledge

In order to apply to the Horizon 2020 "Science with and for Society" and the topic “SwafS-11-2017: Scientific education outside the classroom”, we are looking for universities and non-formal institutions to form a consortium of partners around a project called “Releasing Scientific Knowledge” (RESICK). The project aims to facilitate the identification of scientific practices that occur in informal spaces; to emerge the knowledge obtained through these practices; and to certify acquired skills for different purposes.
